Chantal Akerman
Streets. Lights at night. A woman on the pavement. A crowded underground carriage. Children playing in the street. Horns. Cars. Bursts of sound. Fixed shots and tracking shots as long as a memory or a dream. The letters Chantal Akerman received from her mother when she was living in New York, between the ages of 21 and 23.
Three years later, already internationally recognised for Je, tu, il, elle and Jeanne Dielman, she returned to the city to film News from Home, a personal and unique portrait of a cold and conquered New York, which resonates with the awareness of growing older and being far from home.
