Antoine Doinel is a 12-year-old boy who lives in Paris as a loner in his own home. His parents have unresolved marital problems. The boy was born unwanted and constantly breathes this hostility, having to endure, one after another, the blows that life deals him, feeling increasingly misunderstood and unhappy. On one occasion, when he has to do some schoolwork, he does not finish it, a circumstance that the teacher takes advantage of to expel him from class for a week. It is then that Antoine decides to fulfil one of his greatest dreams: to see the sea.
